DESCRIPTION:Puppy training classes are for puppies 6 months and younger. \nPuppy Training Classes are crucial for teaching social skills\, good manners\, and a positive attitude about learning and are a great way to begin a happy and healthy relationship with your puppy. They are designed to teach you\, as the puppy owner\, how to properly socialize and teach your puppy basic commands\, agility obstacles and good manners. Our classes are educational and entertaining for your whole family and will keep you and your dog mentally and physically engaged during each class. You will learn how to take your dog through real-life challenges with confidence. \nThe first step towards attending group classes is to attend an Orientation. SUMMARY:Level II Dog Training Class
DESCRIPTION:Level II Dog Training Class is for Level I graduates. \nIn the Level II Obedience Class you will fine-tune your dog’s repertoire of obedience behaviors and your dog will experience more advanced agility obstacles. We will challenge you and your dog by increasing the four variables of training and teaching new commands and behaviors. This class also prepares you and your dog for the Canine Good Citizen Test and the Therapy Dog International Test. Additional obedience behaviors are listed below. \nSchedule\n \nWednesdays 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.\nSaturdays 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. \n$25 per class or 1 punch on Class Pass \nBehaviors Taught:\n\nLevel I behaviors increasing the four variables of training (Distance\, Distraction\, Duration and Location)\nFront\nFinish (Right & Left)\nAKC Novice Exercises\nObstacles\n\n  \nGraduation\nMisty Pines does not believe that after a predetermined number of classes your dog will be ready for the next level so progression to the next level of classes is determined by an evaluation. During this evaluation you and your dog will need to demonstrate that you are able to complete a series of required behaviors. \nLevel II Evaluation: All evaluations are by appointment and are held during your regularly scheduled class. This evaluation must be scheduled with a trainer. Cost is $20 pass or fail. \nGraduation Requirements:\n\nHeeling\n– Figure 8 around pylons\n– Right & Left turns\n2 minute Sit/Stay\n3 minute Down/Stay\nCome/Front/Finish\n“Place” from 6 feet\nSide\nStand\nSit/Stay for petting with a friendly stranger\n\n \nAfter Graduation\, students will move up to the Maintenance Plus Class. \nAll dogs must be current on Rabies\, DHLPP\, and Bordetella (Bordetella every 6 months) vaccinations. SUMMARY:Starter Orientation
DESCRIPTION:Click here to register online! \nThe first step towards attending group classes is to attend an Orientation. This prerequisite session will provide the information necessary to prepare you for group classes. We will discuss training terms and equipment\, dog behavior and socialization\, and class structure so that you are able to jump into classes right away. You will also receive a packet with the Misty Pines Training Handbook. After attending the Orientation\, pups over six months will enter into Level I Classes. Puppy and Starter Orientations are offered once a month. The registration fee is $75 for the Orientation and $25 for each Group Class. \nClick here to read Dog Training Reviews and see what others are saying about training at Misty Pines. \n*  Everyone in your family is welcome to attend the orientation. \n*  This is a dog free orientation. This is a night of training and learning for you. \n*  This orientation is for dog’s 6 months old and up. \n*  You must have your dog’s vaccinations emailed or faxed to Misty Pines before the Orientation. We require written proof of Rabies\, Bordetella\, and DHLPP. \nTraining tools commonly used in group classes: \n– 6 foot leash (retractable leashes are not permitted on the premises) \n– Treats \n– Bait bag \n– Training collar (Scruffy Guider or Gentle Leader are preferred\, but not required) \nOrientation is from 7- 9pm!
