DESCRIPTION:11:00 am class is FULL. Please register for the 12:30 pm class. \nPaul Leabhart will conduct an intro to Dock Diving class. Paul has many years of Dock Dog competition and training experience. This workshop will include demonstrations on how to begin training for dock diving. The class will visit the Dog Pond for demos and to get the dogs in the water. \nIf you are interested in dock diving with your dog\, this is one class you don’t want to miss! Learn the facts about techniques\, rules and getting prepared for when you do your first event. It is still a great time even if you don’t plan to compete. \nBring your dogs and their favorite toy\, there will be experienced dock divers ready to help you and your dog at the pond. \nRegistration online or by phone is required to attend class. Payment will be taken at the class and must be cash or check. Checks should be made out to Misty Pines Pet Company.

Please bring all of your usual tools needed for class and be sure to have a treat bag filled with your dog’s most favorite treats. Please sign up and prepay in advance. This class is open to students from all levels of classes. \nLocation \nAt Misty Pines we work towards building solid obedience and behavior throughout any distraction that we may come across. To solidify these behaviors we work through four variables of dog training; Distance\, Distraction\, Duration\, and Location. Location is perhaps one of the most important variables of training a dog to cope with everyday situations such as someone coming to your door or taking your dog to the park on a sunny afternoon. As a general rule\, a dog will only work where it has been taught to do so. DESCRIPTION:Every dog is equipped with an amazing tool: their nose! Olfaction\, the act or process of smelling\, is a dog’s primary special sense. Dogs have more than 220 million olfactory receptors in their nose\, while humans have only 5 million! Teaching dogs to use their nose to identify a target odor offers many benefits. Medical tests have even shown that specially trained dogs are capable of using the dog’s sense of smell to detect certain types of tumors in humans. Scent Work is a highly recommended working game for families to learn to work their family pets. \nNot many family dogs will be used for bomb detection\, competition or tracking work\, but every family dog can learn to play Hide N Seek and find objects hidden around the house. These games can be used to help provide mental stimulation for your dog and provide a job to keep him active. Scent Working is an activity that all dogs enjoy and all dogs can do. \nBeginners and all other skill levels are welcome. \nPre-Requisites \n101 – None\n102 – Your dog must have completed a Scent Work 101 course.\n103 – Your dog must have completed a Scent Work 102 course or higher.\n104 – Your dog must have completed a Scent Work 103 course or higher.\n105 – Your dog must have completed a Scent Work 104 course or higher.

SUMMARY:Warm Up and Practice Dock Diving Trial
DESCRIPTION:This will be a competition for practice\, fun and ribbons. \nThere will be 2 rounds of jumps. One will be at 9:30 am\, and one at 12:30 pm. Each dog entered will get 2 jumps off the dock. The better of the two jumps will determine the dog’s division and place in that division. When the afternoon jumps are over\, the top 6 dogs of each division will jump for 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place in their division. The top three places will receive a ribbon and prizes. \nNovice Division: 1 inch to 9 feet 11 inches.\nJunior Division: 10 feet to 14 feet 11 inches.\nSenior Division: 15 feet to 19 feet 11 inches.\nMaster Division: 20 feet to 22 feet 11 inches.\nElite Division: 23 feet to 24 feet 11 inches.\nSuper Elite Division: 25 feet and above. \nA Beginner Dock Diving Class for beginner and non-jumping dogs with experienced Dock Divers will take place from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. This practice is limited to 15 dogs. \nNo parking will be permitted along the driveway. All parking will be in the parking lots at the top of the driveway. Participants and spectators are asked to bring lawn chairs to sit along the hillside\, which will provide a spectacular view of the event. \nEach round of jumps\, at 9:30 am and 12:30 pm\, will have a 50 dog maximum\, so be sure to get your spot soon. Participants will be organized into groups of 10 and each group will be assigned a jump time. \nEach handler/dog team needs to be here at least 30 minutes before their dock dive slot\, which would be 9:00 am or 12:00 pm. \nPay at event.
