Training classes are informative\, engaging and educational as well as entertaining for your whole family. \nOrientation\nThe first step towards attending group classes is to attend an Orientation. This prerequisite session will provide the information necessary to prepare you for group classes. Classes focus on obedience\, manners and proper socialization with reward based training. Your dog will learn verbal commands\, leash signals and hand signals from attending the classes. \nGraduation\nMisty Pines does not believe that after a predetermined number of classes your dog will be ready for the next level so progression to the next level of classes is determined by an evaluation. During this evaluation you and your dog will need to demonstrate that you are able to complete a series of required behaviors. \nLevel I Dog Training Class Evaluation: All evaluations are by appointment and are held during your regularly scheduled class. This evaluation must be scheduled with a trainer. Cost is $25 pass or fail. \nGraduation Requirements:\n\n1 minute Sit/Stay – Handler commands the dog into a sit/stay then increases their distance to the end of 20 foot lead and circles around dog.\n2 minute Down/Stay – Handler commands the dog into a down/stay\, and then increases their distance to end of 20 foot lead.\nHeel/Easy/This way – Demonstrates that the dog can walk on leash without pulling for 1 minute.\nMeet and Greet 6ft. apart – Demonstrate that the dog can remain in heel position while greeting a classmate from 6ft. away.\nRecall off Distraction – Recall 20ft. away from a sit/stay. Dog must come and sit in front of their handler\nDoor Greeting – Dog must sit and stay while the owner knocks\, rings bell\, opens door\, and shakes evaluator’s hand. Dog must remain in a sit until the door is completely shut.\nStand Exam – Dog maintains a stand position for 10 seconds.\nLeave it/Watch – Handler throws treat or toy on ground and the dog must leave the item without lunging towards it.\nPlace – Handler sends their dog to a designated place from 6ft. away. Handler may mark spot.\nSpin – Dog rotates 360* counter-clockwise in front of owner.\nAgility – Demonstrates handler’s leadership and ability to identify and direct their dog over the scramble and bridge. Dog must not fall off obstacle.\n\nAfter Graduation\, students will move up to the Level II Class\, where you will fine-tune your dog’s repertoire of obedience behaviors and your dog will experience more advanced agility obstacles. \nAll dogs must be current on Rabies\, DHLPP\, and Bordetella (Bordetella every 6 months) vaccinations. DESCRIPTION:Puppy preschool is for puppies 8 – 12 weeks old. \n \nPuppy Preschool is a socialization experience for puppies 8-12 weeks old. Puppies are allowed to interact off leash with a variety of other puppies and people\, while we discuss the importance of this critical developmental and socialization period. In addition\, we will talk about the challenges new puppy owners face when dealing with play biting\, as well as crate and potty training. You don’t want to miss out on this important first step in your puppy’s life-long learning carrier\, so register online today! \nBetween 9 – 11 weeks of age is a very sensitive period for puppies. \nPuppy Preschool Schedule\nSaturdays 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. \n$25 per class or 1 punch on Class Pass \nWhen your puppy is at or over 12 weeks of age you will proceed to the Puppy Training Class after you’ve attended an Orientation. \n \nOrientation\nThe next step towards attending group classes is to attend an Orientation. This prerequisite two hour session will provide the information necessary to prepare you for group classes. We will discuss training terms and equipment\, dog behavior and socialization\, and class structure so that you are able to jump into classes right away. You will receive a packet with the Misty Pines Training Manual as well as other informational materials. Orientations are offered once a month on Wednesday evenings from 7 – 9pm. DESCRIPTION:Level 1 Agility class is for fun\, exercise and relationship building. Everyone is welcome. \n$30 \nMisty Pines teaches and uses agility obstacles in our training classes as motivational aids for your dog as a fun way to learn. Schooling your dog in agility obstacles will also strengthen communication between you and your dog. It promotes teamwork and builds your dog’s respect and trust in you as its leader. While this sport can be very competitive\, this class will be taught as a recreational activity to enhance your relationship with your dog. In this monthly agility class\, you and your dog will communicate\, bond\, and have fun! You and your dog can practice any obstacle for as long as you’d like in this class. \nWe offer a variety of obstacles including the standard agility equipment. Some of our equipment includes hurdles\, tunnels\, A-frames\, see-saws\, chutes\, dog-walks\, weave poles\, ladders\, treadmills\, stairs and more. \nThe class is designed to help you and your dog learn and excel in agility. It is a class for all skill levels so it is beneficial for dogs that are brand new to agility as well as those that have had experience. You and your dog can practice any obstacle for as long as you’d like in this class. Exercises vary from free running the obstacles to handling skills and mock courses. Dog must come and sit in front of their handler\nDoor Greeting – Dog must sit and stay while the owner knocks\, rings bell\, opens door\, and shakes evaluator’s hand. Dog must remain in a sit until the door is completely shut.\nStand Exam – Dog maintains a stand position for 10 seconds.\nLeave it/Watch – Handler throws treat or toy on ground and the dog must leave the item without lunging towards it.\nPlace – Handler sends their dog to a designated place from 6ft. away. Handler may mark spot.\nSpin – Dog rotates 360* counter-clockwise in front of owner.\nAgility – Demonstrates handler’s leadership and ability to identify and direct their dog over the scramble and bridge. You don’t want to miss out on this important first step in your puppy’s life-long learning carrier\, so register online today! \nBetween 9 – 11 weeks of age is a very sensitive period for puppies. \nPuppy Preschool Schedule\nSaturdays 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. \n$25 per class or 1 punch on Class Pass \nWhen your puppy is at or over 12 weeks of age you will proceed to the Puppy Training Class after you’ve attended an Orientation. \n \nOrientation\nThe next step towards attending group classes is to attend an Orientation. This prerequisite two hour session will provide the information necessary to prepare you for group classes. We will discuss training terms and equipment\, dog behavior and socialization\, and class structure so that you are able to jump into classes right away. You will receive a packet with the Misty Pines Training Manual as well as other informational materials. Orientations are offered once a month on Wednesday evenings from 7 – 9pm. DESCRIPTION:Level II Dog Training Class is for Level I graduates. \nIn the Level II Obedience Class you will fine-tune your dog’s repertoire of obedience behaviors and your dog will experience more advanced agility obstacles. We will challenge you and your dog by increasing the four variables of training and teaching new commands and behaviors. This class also prepares you and your dog for the Canine Good Citizen Test and the Therapy Dog International Test. Additional obedience behaviors are listed below. \nSchedule\n \nWednesdays 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.\nSaturdays 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. \n$25 per class or 1 punch on Class Pass \nBehaviors Taught:\n\nLevel I behaviors increasing the four variables of training (Distance\, Distraction\, Duration and Location)\nFront\nFinish (Right & Left)\nAKC Novice Exercises\nObstacles\n\n  \nGraduation\nMisty Pines does not believe that after a predetermined number of classes your dog will be ready for the next level so progression to the next level of classes is determined by an evaluation. Dog must come and sit in front of their handler\nDoor Greeting – Dog must sit and stay while the owner knocks\, rings bell\, opens door\, and shakes evaluator’s hand. Dog must remain in a sit until the door is completely shut.\nStand Exam – Dog maintains a stand position for 10 seconds.\nLeave it/Watch – Handler throws treat or toy on ground and the dog must leave the item without lunging towards it.\nPlace – Handler sends their dog to a designated place from 6ft. away. Handler may mark spot.\nSpin – Dog rotates 360* counter-clockwise in front of owner.\nAgility – Demonstrates handler’s leadership and ability to identify and direct their dog over the scramble and bridge. Dog must not fall off obstacle.\n\nAfter Graduation\, students will move up to the Level II Class\, where you will fine-tune your dog’s repertoire of obedience behaviors and your dog will experience more advanced agility obstacles. \nAll dogs must be current on Rabies\, DHLPP\, and Bordetella (Bordetella every 6 months) vaccinations.
