Choosing pet foods is possibly one of the most overwhelming decisions. Think about choosing pet food like choosing a pizza for yourself.
Do you want a wheat crust or white crust?
Do you want a gluten-free crust?
Do you want thin, original, New York or Chicago style?
Do you want tomato sauce?
If you want tomato sauce, do you want it flavored with basil, garlic, oregano or all three?
What kind of cheese do you want? Mozzarella or a mix?
Do you want vegetables? If so, which ones? Organic? GMO-free?
Do you want meat? If so, do you want pepperoni, sausage or both?
Do you want to buy a frozen pizza, make one at home, order one for delivery, or go to a restaurant?
You have made these nine-plus decisions confidently and automatically in the past for yourself and your household. So, let’s apply the decision-making process to pet food.
The Six Pillars of Choosing Pet Food
What are they?
Will your pet have a sensitivity reaction to any of them?
Where do the ingredients come from?
Are the grains, potatoes and vegetable ingredients GMO-free and organic
Are the proteins grass-fed or free-range?
Where do the added vitamins and minerals originate?
Vaccination Requirements for All Services at Misty Pines Pet Company: All dogs must be current on Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella (Bordetella every 6 months) vaccinations. The Leptosporosis (Lepto/L) vaccine is not required, however, Misty Pines highly recommends that your dog receives it. All pets must have received inoculations at least 10 days prior to their visit to Misty Pines. The waiting period will allow your dog to build sufficient immunity to the vaccinations which will make your dog less susceptible to catching or transferring any unwanted viruses. This includes new and updated vaccinations. Your pet cannot be over due for vaccinations - NO EXCEPTIONS. For example, if your pet is scheduled to visit Misty Pines on May 14 and received vaccinations on May 6, we cannot accept your pet due to the insufficient 10 day waiting period. Please bring vaccination records with you or fax to the Misty Pines office at 412-367-7387.
