Dogs need exercise. Some dogs need a lot of exercise and end up in some sort of trouble because of something they’ve done that was bad simply because they have energy that needed to be burned. Chewing on the house and all the things in it, barking, jumping up on people or pulling on the leash so hard while walking or running feels like a really frustrating task are a few of the reasons to think about adding a treadmill to your dog’s life.
Weather conditions is another huge reason for treadmilling your dog. Too hot or too cold, too windy or raining, the treadmill is a great way to get your dog the exercise needed to remain a happy healthy, well behaved dog. Lack of activity during winter months can not only put added pounds on your dog cutting years of their life but add to the misbehaving aspect of daily living as well.
At Misty Pines we say that a well-trained and well-exercised dog is a good dog and by working your dog on a treadmill you are accomplishing both at the same time. Why a treadmill, you ask? You can infinitely exercise your dog indoors, which means that you are no longer governed by the weather.
Learn how to teach your dog the treadmill to help keep them mentally and physically stimulated. Our most fit and athletic dogs can run on the treadmill at 8 -10 mph for twenty to thirty minutes!
Beginner Conformation

In a fun, relaxed environment, we will discuss show terminology, ring etiquette and what to expect at dog shows. Students will learn how to stack and gait their dog as well as basic patterns. No prior experience is required, and novice handlers are highly encouraged to attend. All dogs over 4 months of age are welcome to attend.

Progressive Conformation

Owners should have a basic understanding of conformation handling as this class focuses on practice and preparation for the show ring. Purebreds over 4 months of age are welcome to attend.
Progressive Scent Work

Olfaction, the act or process of smelling, is a dog’s primary special sense. Dogs have more than 220 million olfactory receptors in their nose, while humans have only 5 million! Teaching dogs to use their nose to identify a target odor offers many benefits. Medical tests have even shown that specially trained dogs are capable of using the dog’s sense of smell to detect certain types of tumors in humans. Scent Work is a highly recommended working game for families to learn to work their family pets. Not many family dogs will be used for bomb detection, competition or tracking work, but every family dog can learn to play Hide N Seek and find objects hidden around the house. These games can be used to help provide mental stimulation for your dog and provide a job to keep him active. Scent Working is an activity that all dogs enjoy and all dogs can do. Beginners and all other skill levels are welcome.

Kids Camp is the perfect way for your child to enjoy their pet and learn proper handling skills and dog safety. Help your child have a great relationship with their canine best friend. The kids enjoy games, dog obedience, agility obstacles, trail hikes, and swimming at the pond! Kids Camp is available for kids ages 7-13 years of age. Cost is $120 for the first child and $110 for each child from the same family after that.

We will then go into our specifically tailored series of exercises that you will perform while training your dog in various stationary behaviors. You will be shown the exercises with modifications for each to be more challenging or less challenging so everyone of every fitness level can participate and succeed! Lastly we will perform exercises to cool down and stretch. Our program includes body-weight, cardio, balancing, breathing and stretching exercises.
Items to bring:
- 6’ Training leash and training collar.
- Treats and a treat pouch that closes and opens easily.
- Water (for Humans), water for dogs will be provided outside.
- Exercise clothing attire.
Requirements to attend class:
- Friendly dogs only
- Basic commands dogs should know: Sit, Down, Stay
